Monteverdi Tuscany offers three Cooking Academies for our guests, hosted by Executive Chef Giancarla Bodoni. The five-day academies are scheduled for the spring between May 28th and June 2nd and in autumn between October 1st and October 6th while the three-day academy is scheduled for November 3rd-7th. Daily cooking classes range in subjects from making the local specialty pasta, pici, and the preparation and cooking of cinghiale, the famous Tuscan wild boar.

Although each academy will be unique and tailored to the season, both academies offer wine tastings and vineyard tours in the celebrated wine regions of Tuscany – in Montepulciano, to taste the famous Vino Nobile di Montepulciano and in Montalcino, to experience the revered Brunello. Toward the end of each academy, guests will have an opportunity to relax at the new Monteverdi Spa, which opened in June of 2015. In the spring, guests visit a Tuscan sheep farm to learn about Pecorino cheese and enjoy a celebratory Easter brunch based on traditional Tuscan recipes. In the autumn, guests will head to the forests of the Val d’Orcia for truffle foraging and to Montalcino for a visit with an olive oil producer. During both cooking terms, guests are treated to a honey seminar by one of Europe’s renowned authorities.

Guests to the cooking academies reside at Monteverdi and will enjoy all the amenities, including access to Monteverdi’s gym, the Monteverdi Gallery, the Monteverdi Spa, and the private retreat of Monteverdi’s many gardens and terraces. Daily cooking classes, breakfasts, dinners, wine tours and tastings, seminars, and transportation to and from the planned activities are all included in the price starting at EUR 8,500 per couple.
