David Benoit at Monteverdi Tuscany

April 28 - May 2, 2020

David Benoit Artist-in-Residence

Monteverdi Tuscany is pleased to announce a very special “artist in residence” program featuring famed jazz pianist David Benoit. Mr. Benoit returns to Monteverdi from April 28th through May 2nd, 2020 following his surprise, “pop up” performances in Monteverdi’s lounge bar in 2019 where patrons were delighted to learn that their musical accompaniment over cocktails was a Grammy-nominated pianist, composer and producer.

Mr. Benoit began his career in 1976 as musical director and conductor for Lainie Kazan, and also served in similar capacities for Ann Margret and Connie Stevens. He has since released more than 30 albums, garnering three Grammy Award nominations in the process. Mr. Benoit began studying piano at the age of 13 and trained under Abraham Fraser, pianist for famed Italian conductor Arturo Toscanini.

Mr. Benoit has arranged, conducted and performed music with a range of notable artists such as Kenny Loggins, Michael Franks, Patti Austin, Dave Koz, Faith Hill, David Lanz, David Sanborn and Chris Botti, among many others. He has performed at the White House for Presidents Ronald Reagan, George Bush Sr. and Bill Clinton as well as other dignitaries such as Colin Powell, Hillary Clinton and former Vice President Al Gore.

Mr. Benoit’s residency at Monteverdi Tuscany will span from April 28th through May 2nd, 2020. He will appear as a solo performer prior to his feature performance at the Mallorca Smooth Jazz Festival in Spain on May 11th, 2020. Benoit will be writing new music and experimenting with musical arrangements in Monteverdi’s lounge bar each evening, interacting with hotel guests while also playing some of his best-known songs in informal performances.

Mr. Benoit’s residency will culminate with a May 1st formal concert in Monteverdi’s performing arts venue, a 14th Century Romanesque church. This same venue has hosted performances by past Monteverdi artists in residence such as Steve Tyrell, Keb Mo, Joshua Bell and Matthew Polenzani, among many others.

Throughout Mr. Benoit’s residency, guests will be able to fully immerse themselves at Monteverdi Tuscany, a luxury boutique hotel featuring an award-winning farm-to-table restaurant, a Culinary Academy, a piano lounge and terrace bar, a separate enoteca and Library Bar, outdoor swimming pool and indoor heated spa pool, a holistic spa, yoga studio, a modern gym, an art gallery, and the aforementioned beautifully restored 700-year-old church that serves as Monteverdi’s performing arts venue.

All of Mr. Benoit’s performances will be free to Monteverdi guests staying at the property during Mr. Benoit’s residency. Mr. Benoit is the music director and a proud supporter of the Asia America Symphony Orchestra. In gratitude for Mr. Benoit’s appearances, Monteverdi Tuscany will contribute 10% of room charges to the Asia America Symphony Orchestra that are booked during Mr. Benoit’s residency using booking code “BENOIT”.
