Domenico Nordio and Orazio Sciortino

Violin and Piano

Violin sonatas by Mozart, Mendelssohn, and Schumann, played by one of the most renowned Italian violinists, Domenico Nordio, and accompanied by the multi-talented pianist and composer Orazio Sciortino.

Domenico Nordio is one of the most acclaimed musicians of our time. He has performed in the world’s prestigious halls (Carnegie Hall in New York, Salle Pleyel in Paris, Teatro alla Scala in Milan, Barbican Center in London and Suntory Hall in Tokyo), with leading orchestras, including London Symphony, National de France, Accademia di Santa Cecilia in Rome, Orchestra Nazionale della RAI, Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, Istanbul Borusan Philharmonic Orchestra, Enescu Philharmonic Orchestra, SWR Sinfonieorchester Stuttgart, Moscow State Symphony. Mr.Nordio is recording exclusively for Sony Classical and he is an artist in residence at the Verdi Orchestra in Milan. Pupil of Corrado Romano and Michèle Auclair, born in Venice in 1971, former child prodigy (he gave his first recital at age of ten), at age of sixteen Nordio won the Viotti International Competition in Vercelli with the legendary Yehudi Menuhin as President of the Jury.

Orazio Sciortino (piano)
Pianist  and  composer,  Orazio  Sciortino  collaborates  with  important  Italian  and  foreign  musical  institutions: Teatro  alla  Scala  in  Milan,  MiTo  Settembremusica,  LaVerdi  Orchestra,  Orchestra  del  Teatro  La  Fenice,  Bologna Festival,  Ravello  Festival,  Haydn  Orchestra  of  Bolzano  and  Trento,  RAI  National  Symphony Orchestra,  Maggio  Musicale  Fiorentino,  Ankara Festival,  Konzerthaus  in  Berlin,  Ottawa  Chamber  Music  Festival,  Festival  de  Wallonie, Klara  Festival  Brussels,  Sala  Cecilia  Meireles  of  Rio  De  Janeiro. As composer, he collaborated with  Mazzotta and Skira with projects concerning the relationship between visual arts and music.   On 2016  Mr. Sciortino was appointed Krug Ambassador. The prestigious Maison of  Champagne asked him to compose a  piece exclusively dedicated to  Krug. Sciortino’s piano piece  Lives through a  glass,  dedicated to  Krug  Grande  Cuvée is  included  n his album Self Portrait released by  Sony Classical with his works for solo piano.  For label  Claves,  the  Ambra  Piano  Trio and  Swiss  Ensemble  New Wave record a  cd with  Orazio  Sciortino’s chamber works for piano and strings. He has a  passion for cooking and lives in  Milan.
