Gianni Politi Exhibition
We are delighted to welcome Rome-based artist Gianni Politi to the Monteverdi Gallery. Politi will exhibit a number of painted pieces, both on canvas and taking the form of canvas jackets hung on bronze.
Born in Rome in 1986, Gianni Politi is a young Italian artist whose large canvases create an original bridge between American Abstract Expressionism and twentieth-century Italian masters such as Lucio Fontana and Alberto Burri. In spite of his young age, Politi has had highly regarded solo exhibitions at Galleria Nazionale d’Arte Moderna, at Nomas Foundation in Rome and Galleria d’Arte Moderna di Palermo.
Politi uses as his preferred medium painted scraps of canvas; he uses acrylic, oil, household paint and spray paint and consistently shifts between abstract and figurative work, from very small to very large scale.
In 2018, Politi had solo exhibitions in New York, Hong Kong and Milan. Politi’s first solo exhibition was at Galleria Lorcan O’Neill in Rome in early 2017. His main exhibitions include: 56 Henry, New York (2018); Nomas Foundation and MAXXI, Rome (2015); Pier 36, New York (2014); Galleria Nazionale d’Arte Moderna, Rome (2014); Istituto di Cultura Italiano, Prague (2014); Biblioteca Casanatense, Rome (2012).
Politi lives and works in Rome.
