Monica Bacelli and Trio Metamorphosi
Monica Bacelli, one of the top Italian artists, has created an exclusive program with Scottish Songs arranged by Beethoven and Haydn for this particular ensemble. An appropriate tribute in 2020, the year of Beethoven.
Monica Bacelli (mezzo)
Monica Bacelli regularly appears in the world’s leading opera houses, including La Scala in Milan, the Vienna State Opera, The Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, the Opernhaus Zurich, the Salzburg Festival, La Fenice Venice, the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, the Teatro Real Madrid, La Monnaie in Brussels, the Rossini Opera Festival in Pesaro and the Netherlands Opera in Amsterdam. She has worked with conductors such as Ivor Bolton, Semyon Bychkov, Sylvain Cambreling, Riccardo Chailly, Myung-Whun Chung, Valery Gergiev, Bernard Haitink, Nikolaus Harnoncourt, René Jacobs, Sir Neville Marriner, Zubin Mehta, Riccardo Muti, Daniel Oren, Seiji Ozawa, Antonio Pappano, Trevor Pinnock, Simon Rattle, David Robertson, Christian Thielemann and Alberto Zedda. Monica Bacelli has been awarded the Premio Abbiati, the most important Italian music critic prize. Her wide repertoire includes all of the principal roles by Mozart and Rossini, but it spans from baroque to French operas from 19th and 20th centuries. Monica Bacelli is recognized as a leading interpreter of contemporary music both in concert and on the stage. She has sung many world premieres, including the stage monologue Le bel indifferent by Marco Tutino and the title role in Ivan Fedele’s Antigone at the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino. Noteworthy is her long collaboration with Luciano Berio. Her interpretative curiosity, her interest in chamber music and her research into unusual vocal repertoire lead her to devote herself to a wide variety of projects, ranging from early to contemporary music, with a focus on the Italian art song from the 20th century.
Mauro Loguercio (violin)
Francesco Pepicelli (cello)
Angelo Pepicelli (piano)
The name of the Trio is a tribute to the continuous process of change, which is so necessary in the artistic field. It intends to emphasize the progressive growth of a complex chamber ensemble, never enslaved by habit, but always ready to interplay and make each performance unique. The three musicians also boast top-level chamber music experience: duo (cello and piano), string quartet, and collaborations with artists including Magaloff, Pires and Meneses. They have performed in many of the world’s most prestigious venues, including the Philharmonie in Berlin, Teatro alla Scala in Milan, Salle Gaveau in Paris, Suntory Hall in Tokyo, Carnegie Hall in New York and Coliseum in Buenos Aires. Trio Metamorphosi is part of the Decca recording catalogue. For this prestigious label they recorded Schumann’s complete piano trios, which have been acclaimed by many enthusiastic reviews. In 2017 Decca released the album “Scotland”, including a selection of Scottish Arias and Songs by Haydn and Beethoven, in collaboration with the mezzo-soprano Monica Bacelli. In 2019 the first two CDs of Beethoven’s complete piano trios were released (marking the first time that an Italian piano trio has recorded such a repertoire for Decca). The two final CDs will be released in December 2020.
