Trio Kanon

Based in Cremona, the young Italian ensemble will perform two of the most famous trios: Brahms’ Trio op.8 and Dvořák’s Trio op.90 “Dumky”.

Lena Yokoyama (violin)
Alessandro Copia (cello)
Diego Maccagnola (piano)
Trio Kanon was formed in 2012 by three musician friends with the common desire to make music together, while studying under the guidance of the Trio di Parma (Alberto Miodini, Ivan Rabaglia, Enrico Bronzi) at the International Chamber Music Academy in Duino. The name of the ensemble refers to the Canon but is also the merging of two Japanese words: “Ka” (Flower) and “On” (Music), literally “Flourishing Music”. Awarded with prestigious international prizes, Trio Kanon recently performed at the Fenice in Venice, Amici della Musica in Florence, Unione Musicale in Turin, I Concerti del Quirinale in Rome, Auditorium Arvedi in Cremona and Filarmonica in Trento. They also performed in the United Kingdom (ensemble in residence at 2015 Aldeburgh Music festival), Norway, Croatia, Austria, United States, China and Japan. Trio Kanon has attended masterclasses with Alexander Lonquich at Accademia Chigiana in Siena, with Robert Cohen at Snape Maltings in the UK, with Hatto Beyerle, Miguel Da Silva and Annette von Hehn (Atos Trio) at Trondheim Chamber Music Academy in 2014 in Norway, and with Oliver Wille at ProQuartet in Paris. They recently recorded CDs for the Italian magazine “Amadeus” and for the “Movimento Classical” label. In March 2019 their third CD was released for the label Warner Italia (Dvorak and Brahms).
