Pianist and composer, Orazio Sciortino collaborates with important Italian and foreign musical institutions: Teatro alla Scala in Milan, MiTo Settembremusica, Orchestra Verdi in Milan, Orchestra del Teatro La Fenice, Bologna Festival, IUC in Rome, Ravello Festival, I Solisti Aquilani, Orchestra di Padova e del Veneto, Orchestra Haydn di Bolzano e Trento, Orchestra Sinfonica Nazionale della RAI, Fondazione Arena di Verona, Festival della Valle d’Itria, Sagra Malatestiana in Rimini, Società del Quartetto in Milan, Cantiere Internazionale di Montepulciano, I Concerti della Normale in Pisa, Festival dei Due Mondi in Spoleto, Sociedad Filarmonica in Lima, Nuova Harmonìa in Buenos Aires, Ankara Festival, Konzerthaus in Berlin, Salle Molière in Lyon, Ottawa Chamber Music Festival, Sala Cecília Meireles in Rio De Janeiro, and Megaron in Athens. He has recorded for the record labels Dynamic, Bottega Discantica, Limen Music, Claves, and Sony Classical. For musical theatre he composed La Paura, an opera about the Great War (Teatro Coccia, Novara) and for the Teatro alla Scala (2016/2017 season) he composed La Gattomachia, a musical fable for narrator, concertante violin and strings. In 2016, he was appointed Krug Ambassador. The prestigious champagne house, for the first time in its history, asked a composer to compose a piece dedicated to the Krug Grande Cuvée. Thus was born the piano piece “Lives through a glass” included in the album Self Portrait, featuring his piano compositions, published by Sony Classical. Recently released, in the dual role of conductor and soloist, is the CD C.P.E. Bach – Piano Concertos and other works for solo piano recorded with the Orchestra di Padova e del Veneto and published by the Hänssler Classic label. He has a passion for cooking and lives in Milan.
