Concert Series: Trio Cantare
Irish Classical music performance
Trio Cantare was formed in 2021 by members Cahal Masterson, Piano, Gemma NíBhriain, Mezzo-Soprano, and Yseult Cooper Stockdale, Cellist. As a trio they have performed at Drogheda Classical Music and Belfast International Arts Festival and have been broadcast live on Lyric FM. Individually they enjoy diverse careers nationally and internationally, having worked extensively with orchestras and ensembles in Ireland including Irish National Opera, the Irish Chamber Orchestra, Opera Northern Ireland, the National Symphony Orchestra of Ireland, Welsh National Opera, and the Ulster Orchestra. Gemma, Yseult and Cahal enjoy varied careers as chamber and recital artists and have been friends since their studies together at the Royal Irish Academy of Music, where they graduated in 2014. It was their love of chamber music that led to Trio Cantaré’s formation. The ensemble is an exploration of the natural pairing and beauty of both the cello and the voice upon a harmonic canvas of the piano. They like to programme a wide scope of repertoire, often their own unique arrangements, with an emphasis on works by female composers.
