Monteverdi Tuscany is a 31-bedroom boutique hotel spread across several buildings in the medieval hilltop village of Castiglioncello del Trinoro. The village soars above the surrounding landscape at 800 meters above sea level.

Monteverdi Tuscany is located within the Val d'Orcia region of Southern Tuscany, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The closest town, Sarteano, is approximately a 10-minute drive or 50-minute walk from the hilltop.

Check-in is available from 4pm, and check-out is at 11am.

Monteverdi Tuscany is located 90 minutes from Florence (FLR)  and two hours from Rome (FCO). The closest train station is Chiusi-Chianciano Terme, which is approximately a 30-minute drive from the hotel.

The Val d'Orcia, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Southern Tuscany, offers a pristine landscape accessible by hiking, biking and horseback riding. Nature lovers will appreciate the nearly 11 natural reserves in the region, with the closest, Pietraporciana, accessible via a hiking path connected to our village. 

Guests may also discover hilltop towns including: Pienza, Montepulciano and Siena, to name a few, and explore their rich history or enjoy some of the most iconic food and wines of not only Tuscany, but also of Italy.

While pets are welcome in public outdoor spaces, we do not allow pets as overnight guests at this time.

Yes! Monteverdi Tuscany is family-friendly. Cribs are available for our tiniest guests and can fit in all room categories. For older children, extra beds can be added to some Village Suites and Tuscan View Suites at no additional cost.

Families can learn together through a wide range of experiences, including joining our pizza-making class and floral workshop, moving together in a yoga class or guided hike in the Val d’Orcia. For something further afield, our concierge team can arrange horseback riding, e-bike tours, or lunch at a nearby farm.

A valid credit card is required for all reservations. For Rooms & Suites, cancellations are accepted without penalty up to 7 days prior to arrival and 30 days prior to arrival for our Private Village Houses. For Group reservations of more than six rooms, a 25% deposit is taken at the time of booking, with a further 25% deposit 60 days prior to arrival. The balance is charged 30 days prior to arrival.

Whether you’re planning the Tuscan wedding of your dreams, a special birthday or anniversary, or an important business event, meeting or incentive trip, our team will be on hand with a flawless eye for the finer details. Monteverdi can host up to 80 overnight guests, with our grandest spaces accommodating as many as 100 people, making it ideal for a luxury wedding venue and private events.​ Groups of over 30 guests require a minimum three-night buyout so our team can fully commit themselves to you and your guests. For any business needs, our contemporary Meeting & Retreat Center features two multifunctional and interconnectable rooms along with an Arena that can accommodate anywhere from six to 26 guests, depending on the desired seating configuration optimal for or corporate retreats.  

Centered in Southern Tuscany, Monteverdi offers access to the best vineyards in the area for wine tasting and vineyard tours. The main wine territories include: Montalcino, a lovely place to spend a day with the ideal conditions for producing some of the highest quality wines in the world, including Brunello. Guests can also taste the Vino Nobile di Montepulciano, one of the great wines of the region. Discover this incredible red through vineyard tours and tastings, stopping by producers like Valdipiatta, whose 2019 Nobile di Montepulciano was awarded 95 points by James Suckling.  

Monteverdi also offers specially curated wine tastings onsite guided by our expert sommelier, and hosts regular wine seminars and paired dinners led by top local producers. 

Monteverdi offers Tuscan cooking classes for up to ten students in our well-equipped teaching kitchen located in our Culinary Academy every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. The majority of the staff speak English and Italian; some of them speak Spanish, German, French, and Japanese as well, offering multilingual staff support for international guests at our luxury hotel.
