Camille Blatrix

Monteverdi Gallery is pleased to announce an exhibition of new and existing work by French artist Camille Blatrix (b.1984, Paris, France).

Known for his sculptural work, Blatrix combines traditional and craft techniques applied to handmade and industrially produced elements, to produce exquisite objects. He employs techniques deeply rooted in the history of production, yet is interested in the emotional attachment we afford objects. The ambiguity inherent in his work allows us to forge our own connections with materials and techniques which are familiar, yet abstract.

In this exhibition, Blatrix will collaborate on a new body of works with a series of paintings by his father dating from the 1970s.  Blatrix’s parents moved to the area in the 70s to live from the land, in-line with the counter-cultural ‘hippy ideals’ of the era.

Blatrix’s marquetry, borne of an interest in craftsmanship in visual art, will create both harmony and friction with his father’s work, and shared ideals around the hand-made, and traditional labour.

Blatrix's show opens with an artist reception on 28 March at 4p and is on view daily from 11am -7pm through 28 June 2026.
