This photographic diary follows the fortuitous meeting of model Anna Cleveland and photographer Carlotta Bertelli in Castiglioncello del Trinoro, the medieval village Monteverdi calls home, revealing a deep and moving connection expressed through film.

The title borrows from an Emily Dickinson poem whose words have become more insightful and true over time– that beauty and happiness are internal qualities that live, thrive and rejoice in a place far below the surface.

Realized using a vintage Rolleiflex, this collection of photographs and words captures beauty in its truest form: authentic, unrestrained and free.
