The Monteverdi Art Gallery was inaugurated in 2013, hosting solo exhibitions by leading contemporary artists from around the world. The collection includes artworks by Turner Prize winners, artists who have represented their countries at the Venice Biennale, and participants of international biennales, and major museum shows. These artists have also exhibited in our gallery in the Tuscan hills, becoming part of the collection and, in turn, part of Monteverdi’s story.
Monteverdi is a place where artists and visitors can find respite and inspiration but can also be surprised and challenged. An artist’s stay or residency here often brings about a shift in their work or worldview. We are honoured that this place — its history, geography and ethos — has influenced the artistic imagination of so many artists. Their stays may be brief, but their impact can last a long time, both for the artists and for Monteverdi.
