Concert series: Gwyneth Wentink and Wouter Snoei
Gwyneth is an internationally acclaimed harpist, cultural entrepreneur, and composer. She is the initiator for Foundation Harp which she founded in 1999 and has performed at prestigious stages such as Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center in New York, the Royal Albert Hall and Royal Opera Hall in London and the Konzerthaus in Berlin, among others. As a dedicated and passionate teacher, Gwyneth is visiting guest professor at the Conservatory of Amsterdam and the Royal Academy of Music in London and gives masterclasses all over the world. She is joined by Dutch electronics & sound designer Wouter Snoei whose original soundscapes bridge musical worlds, from electronic and electro-acoustic to classical collaborations. Snoei is also a composer, having been commissioned to craft original soundscapes for prestigious partners including the ASKO/Schoenberg Ensemble. Snoei and Gwyneth previously collaborated on her interpretation of Canto Ostinato.
Composed by Ms. Wentink, the programme Echoes of a Quiet Act is an immersive musical performance for harp and live electronics exploring courage, conscience and the quiet choices we make under pressure. The work weaves acoustic harp with an evolving electronic sound world. Drawing inspiration from the life and legacy of Noor Inayat Khan, a Sufi harpist, spy, and radio transmitter, the music moves between fragility and intensity, stillness and transformation, asking how individual acts - however small or unseen - can leave an echo beyond their moment.
